As a mortal parent you most likely have a lot of questions. We understand. This can be a little overwhelming. Take a deep breath and let our scribe's answers fill you in on what a cabin is, how early demigods need to wake up, and how to find our camp.   • What do you mean by cabins?

    Demigod campers are assigned to one of eight cabins, each of which is dedicated to an Olympian god or goddess, just as in the world of Percy Jackson. Our cabins at Camp Half-Blood Brooklyn are: Apollo, Ares, Artemis/Orion, Athena, Hades, Hermes, Hephaestus, and Poseidon. Every cabin participates in all activities, but certain special powers and experiences are unique to their patron god/goddess. More information on cabins and their Olympian patron can be found here:

    Make sure to check with your young Demigod about their cabin preference, they may feel very strongly about one in particular!

  • My Demigod’s first choice of cabin is not available, what do I do?

    We encourage all Demigods to have a few back-up cabin preferences as we cannot guarantee availability in a cabin for any given week. Every cabin participates in all activities, so your camper is not missing out on anything no matter their cabin. We do not keep a cabin-specific waitlist.

  • How can my Demigod be in the same cabin as her/his friend(s)?

    Please coordinate cabin choices with the friend group directly before registering. If you have questions about cabin availability or need to request a transfer, please email

  • How many Demigod campers are in each cabin?

    There are a maximum of 18 Demigods per cabin.

  • What is the staff to camper ratio?

    We maintain a ratio of 1:8 or better at all times. A Senior and Junior Counselor are always with each cabin at all times, and a team of CIT’s provide additional support to all cabin groups.

  • When and where is drop-off and pick-up?

    Camp drop-off is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the 9th Street and Prospect Park West entrance to Prospect Park, near the Marquis de LAFAYETTE! (child of Zeus) Statue. Pick up is at 4:00 p.m. at the same location. Please keep in mind that we have a ten-minute grace period for late pick-ups. At around 4:15 the camp’s resident cleaning harpies arrive with their sharp talons.

  • What about extended day?

    Over past summers, a few too many Demigod campers have had close encounters with the sharp talons of our resident cleaning harpies past the 4:00 PM pick-up time. So we are now offering an Extended Day option for purchase with your session registration. Extended Day will be offered in limited quantity and only as a full week, 5-day package, with the pick-up time being extended to 6:00 PM. The cost for this session add-on is $150.00 per week. There will 30 Extended Day spots available per week.

  • Where exactly in the park is the campsite?

    Our campsite is right next to the Long Meadow baseball fields, on the opposite side of West Drive from the Prospect Park Bandshell.

  • What happens when it rains?

    On Zeus’ bad days (severe inclement weather such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, excessive heat), we head for shelter at M.S. 51 at 350 5th Ave., Brooklyn NY 11215. If the forecast is known beforehand, you will be notified via text and email about the drop-off and pick-up location change no later than 7:00 a.m. If Zeus decides to surprise us, you will receive a text and email letting you know to pick up at the M.S. 51. Please provide us with the contact info for any additional care providers who need to be notified of the change.

    We'll spend the day at M.S. 51 focused on trivia, myth writing and one of our arts and crafts projects like building ancient structures from everyday items or shield/sword decorating. We only call a rainy day if there are strong storms/showers predicted. If there is a passing shower we take shelter at the Tennis House, which is a covered building that backs our campsite. Just to give you an idea of how hard we push forward in iffy weather, we called just three rainy days last season and two the year before.

  • What should my Demigod wear/bring to camp with them?

    Water in a refillable water bottle (we have lots of water at camp, but it is crucial that they bring a bottle to fill throughout the day!),
    Lunch (in an insulated lunch box with an ice pack),
    Camp T-shirt (one complimentary shirt is included with your registration) and sneakers or other sturdy rubber-soled footwear
    Trusty camp-issued sword; shield is optional
    Sunscreen and a hat/visor are strongly suggested

  • Do I really need an extra T-shirt?

    Training to be heroes outside in Prospect Park all day is a blast, but it does mean that we end most days sweaty and dirty. If you’d like to cut down on your laundry for the week, we have extra camp T-shirts available for purchase at $15 each. Choose an Additional T-shirt during registration, or email to purchase one after registering.

  • Do you provide lunch?

    We do not, campers should bring their own lunch in an insulated lunch box with an ice pack.

  • What about snacks?

    Our cornucopia of snacks (provided by Demeter) offers multiple pre-packaged treats and cold water refills throughout the day. Campers may also bring additional snacks from home to eat at designated snack break times.

  • Allergies?

    Please inform us of any camper allergies on your registration form, or email us at All our camp issued snacks are peanut-free; some snacks contain tree nuts, which are always marked clearly on the label. We also offer a nut-free zone for eating lunch or snacks, which always has staff members supervising.

  • Hydration?

    At Camp Half-Blood, we drink more water than Poseidon himself! Fresh cold water refills are provided and encouraged throughout the day, with regular scheduled water and rest breaks. When we venture out into the park, staff always bring extra water and know the water fountains on the routes along their way. On those extra hot days, when Apollo is really showing off, we also take trips to the nearby sprinklers to cool off.

  • Bathrooms?

    We take regular bathroom breaks throughout the day, going in supervised groups to either the Bandshell or Picnic House public bathrooms (a 3-minute or less walk from the campsite). As the need arises or in an emergency, staff are always available to take a small group or solo camper bathroom trip beyond the regularly scheduled times.

  • What happens if my camper has to miss a day?

    Every day is a unique experience at Camp Half-Blood, and missing a day won’t make for a less exciting weekly adventure. At our morning announcements, we typically recap the previous day’s events, and we encourage all our Demigods to retell the story of the day before to anyone in their cabin who may have missed something.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Any cancellations made by May 1 will be refunded, minus a $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellations made after May 1 will not be refunded.

  • How do I access my registration information?

    You can log on to your ACTIVE account (using the password you created at checkout) through the following link: Camp Half-Blood SIGN IN. There is an option to recover your password if needed.

  • How do I transfer my camper’s Session?

    Please email with your transfer request. Include your camper’s name, the week you’d like to transfer to, and if the cabin assignment should be the same. As always, we cannot guarantee availability in any given week or cabin.

  • What is your Federal Tax ID number?

    Our Federal Tax ID # is 81-1954799. All our registration receipts contain our Tax ID #. If you need another copy of your registration receipt, please email

  • Do you offer Scholarships?

    We do offer a limited number of full and partial scholarships to our camp programs. Please check back April 1st for application details.

  • Do I need to submit a Medical Form for my camper?

    Yes, every camper must submit a NYC DOHMH Child & Adolescent Health Examination Form. Completed forms must be submitted by June 1st. You can submit your form via mail or email. Mailed forms should be sent to:
